Gabs is our events and fundraising lead.

Her Story

Gabby was born and raised in Southeast San Diego but currently lives in Pacific Beach.  She chose to be a part of Paddle for Peace because she loves that it's an organization that welcomes everyone from all backgrounds to surf and serve the community. She used to be inclined to join Latinx only groups but decided to branch out to more diverse groups to meet more people from all walks of life.

Professionally, she works as medical assistant and is pursuing nursing as her career. Her hobbies are surfing, skate boarding, camping, hiking, bonfires, hanging out with friends and family, and eating delicious food with good company.

A cause she is passionate about aside from P4P, is helping other women to get involved in STEM- she used to be on the board of an amazing group called BEWiSE (Better Education for Women in Science and Engineering) it's motive was to get girls in middle and high school exposed to the STEM field by hosting workshops with women in their professional fields.

Most people call her Gabs but she recently decided to go by her middle name Valentina istead of being called Gaby. She prefers either Gabs or Valentina.

Gabs identifies as a first generation Mexican American/Chicana,. Her parents were born and raised in Mexico and she carries and represent her family and culture proudly.
