OUR HISTORY:
Paddle for Peace was invited by the Balinese Government, and fully supported by the Indonesian government, to stage a paddleboard race in Kuta in conjunction with the 2003 Kuta Karnival. The Karnival was organized to coincide with the first anniversary of the Bali bombing in an effort to bring back the much needed tourist dollar to the Balinese Community. It was a great success. More importantly included in that invitation was the offer for Paddle for Peace to hold a memorial ceremony for the victims of the 12th October, 2002 tragedy. The Prime Minister of Australia, Mr John Howard and his wife, the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Simon Crean and his wife; various Balinese Dignitaries and approximately 4000 people attended the Paddle for Peace ceremony. Since Ocotober 2002, Paddle for Peace has staged a memorial ceremony on the 12th of October, on Kuta beach, in memory of the Bali victims.
Following the success of the Bali event, Paddle for Peace was invited to stage a second event on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland in conjunction with the Mooloolaba Triathlon. This event showcased the natural beauty of the Sunshine Coast environs, attracted participants and guests to the area and raised much needed funds for two local charities.
